Use a card
A farewell card is a simple way to show support to your colleagues as they move on to the next step in their career path.
Usually if it’s a team or office setup, someone will buy a card on behalf of the entire company and everyone can write their farewell note inside the card. This card usually congratulates the employee and wishes him well for the future. The ID also gives your colleague a memory and reminder of their time in the company.

Write a letter
A farewell letter is more personal than a card because it allows you to express your feelings in your own words. Tell them how you feel – and why. The handwritten letter will let the reader know that your relationship is worth mentioning. List the specific benefits of your association and wish the person good luck or best wishes in their next step. If appropriate, encourage continued communication. Make sure to close the message with your signature.

Send an email
Send an email before your colleague’s last day of departure to thank them for their service to the organization. Email is another good way to get alternate contact information if you want to keep in touch with them for networking purposes.
When an employee leaves the company, their manager or HR will usually send an email to the company to announce the departure. For your outgoing email, you can simply send a response to the group email. You can start your email thread or directly email a colleague who is leaving.

Leave a gift
Sometimes, employers or colleagues give gifts to the departing colleague. Sometimes a gift is reserved for someone who has worked in a company for a long time and has developed relationships with colleagues outside the workplace.
Your organization can take a group where all employees can contribute money for gifts from the team. This gift could be something that helps the employee in their new role, something they like based on their hobbies and interests, or even a humorous gift based on an inside joke or a humorous moment.

Throw a party
Another way to say goodbye to a colleague is to have a farewell party at work or in a social setting outside of work. You can surprise them with a party or ask for their input in planning a get-together. A farewell party can be a farewell lunch, drinks or other company picnic.
